Money
A lot of people worry that Joint Enrollment, which feels like going to college early though it's not, means paying for college early. But the truth is that, in Georgia at least, JEHP means a cheaper college education overall. The ACCEL Program (ACCEL Program) is from the Georgia Student Finance Commission to let Joint Enrollment students use their HOPE hours for the courses they take during their time while joint enrolled (HOPE Grant). If you compare the two programs, while joint enrolled from a public high school, Georgia will pay for all student fees and approved courses, while HOPE will pay for some student fees and all courses. Considering that most of the classes joint enrolled students will take are on this ACCEL approved class list (2006 Course), this is a great deal and the family will use more money out of each credit hour using the ACCEL program versus the HOPE program.
When looking at the ACCEL approved course list, remember that this is not the list of classes you're allowed to take at KSU. This is the list of classes that will be paid for by ACCEL. JEHP students are allowed to take any classes KSU offers that they meet the normal requirements for.
There are other money issues to factor in, too, though. Students have to get to college to take classes there, so they will either be paying for public transportation (a bus drives straight into campus) or gas. Food on campus is more like a food court as opposed to a cafeteria, which will make it more expensive to eat on campus at college than at high school. Either more food money should be allocated or lunches from home should be prepared.
